Actor Johnny Wactor was brutally gunned down for a car part

John (Johnny) Williams Wactor was a 37 year old actor who was brutally gunned down in Los Angeles recently in an unprovoked attack.

As some background into Johnny, he appeared in the ABC daytime soap General Hospital between 2020 and 2022, playing the role of Brando Corbin. His other television credits include Station 19, Westworld, NCIS and Criminal Minds among others. On the film side, he was most recently seen in Dead Talk Tales: Volume I, released this year, in which he played Marcus.

On Saturday May 25, 2024, Johnny had just finished his shift as a bartender at a downtown Los Angeles bar called Level 8.

He and a female coworker Anita Joy began to walk to their vehicles.

Johnny was leaving his evening job with a coworker when they came upon 3 guys attempting to steal his catalytic converter. He thought he was going to be towed and said “Am I being towed?”

The person stood up with a mask on and said nothing and shot him.

Johnny’s brother Grant has also spoken about the incident.

Grant said that Johnny noticed his car “was jacked up or lifted in some way. He thought he was being towed.”

Grant said his brother soon realized “they were definitely not tow truck people.”

Grant said Johnny put his body in front of his female colleague to protect her and had his hands up when he was shot.

“He did not confront them,” he said. “He did not try to stop them. He was just trying to diffuse the situation by stepping back.”

Grant surmised the men “weren’t expecting anybody to walk up on them, so they got scared. And there’s nothing more dangerous than a coward with a gun in his hand.”

Johnny collapsed after he was shot in the chest. The three men fled the scene in a vehicle.

Johnny was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3.39am on May 25.

It is thought the men were attempting to steal the catalytic converter from the car.

Automobile catalytic converters contain precious metals that thieves try to re-sell.

Anita has come out and spoken about the incident to the media.

“There was no, ‘Back off or will shoot,’” she said. “Johnny, as a man and as someone walking with me and protecting me – he was right by my side.”

Anita spoke about how Johnny’s body flew backwards toward her after the actor got shot.

“I just say to him, I’m like, “Johnny, you OK?” And the only thing he said was “No. Shot.” And I had blood on my hands. So I rip open his shirt and he has a wound in his chest.”

“They tried to get a catalytic converter and they took down Johnny’s life instead,” Anita said. “As I laid him down, he was already slipping away.”

She also posted about it on instagram.

“Johnny was between me and the man who shot him,” she wrote. “As I heard the shot ring into the night, he forcefully tumbled back into my arms. As I grabbed for him, I shouted ‘Hunny you ok?!’ And he only responded, ‘Nope! Shot!’ We toppled onto the street where I pushed my legs under him and tried to hold his body up while screaming for help and screaming at him to stay with me.”

“I’m so grateful to have been a part of his world and him, mine. My heart is shattered with his loss but I believe l have gained the best guardian Angel out there. I love you Johnny Wacky,” she said.

Anita has also spoken about concerns that the staff had prior to Johnny’s death about parking.

“Everybody wants to go out and get drunk and have a good time and party, but the people that are serving them are in danger when they go home because we’re leaving after everybody’s already in bed, and we need to be protected,” she told the outlet. ‘We need to have our employers be concerned for us and make things happen, rather than just saying, ’Oh, we’ll have a security guard walk out with you.’ There was a security guard right there doing CPR on Johnny afterwards.”
