Original Post:
On September 12th, 2021, Destiny’s body was found by a hiker in the desert south of Las Vegas. According to the Clark County Coroner’s office, her identity was confirmed through fingerprints. Police have not said how she died, but her death is being investigated as a homicide.

The 24-year-old was last seen on Thursday, September 9th.

According to her cousins, Destiny went out last minute on Thursday night/ early hours Friday and posted to her Instagram story several times.

One of the stories included a photo of her BMW, which is still missing.

She was supposed to pick up her boyfriend bright and early Friday, but she never showed. He waited a few hours but couldn’t reach her.

It’s also being reported that she texted a friend around 1:30pm and talked about going out Saturday night, since they both didn’t feel like going out that night. She wasn’t heard from again after that.

That’s when her family reported her missing.

Her cousin, Gladys Toleafoa, told KVVU “It wasn’t like her to not notify her boyfriend, it wasn’t like her to not let her mom know she was okay and it wasn’t like her for her phone to be off. So right away, we knew something wasn’t okay.”

Deanae Smith, a friend of hers, made a Facebook post on September 11th that said “Hello all, I’m extremely worried about my best friend Destiny Jackson. We have no none location on her currently as her phone is dead. She was last heard from headed to the Las Vegas strip around the time 12:15-3am. She is driving in her 4 DR Silver BMW 328i”

She also said, “She was last heard from a friend that last texted her at 12:11am, shortly after dropping her boyfriend off at a local studio. Her phone was still on at 3am when that same friend texted her, but no response from Destiny. Later on in the morning, her phone was found out to be dead after multiple calls and texts were going unanswered.”

Her family said they just want answers and feel her case was mishandled. Between the time they reported her missing and the time her body was found, there was no active detective working on the case.

Her cousins say they believe they know who may have killed her, but can’t say because of the investigation.

Update: Sept. 23rd

Investigators believe that Albertt Monterio attempted to carjack Destiny before killing her and fleeing to California.

Destiny was found shot. Her body was covered in a blanket with rocks and dirt. Investigators searched the area and found 3 cartridges.

During their initial investigation, they assumed the person responsible for Destiny’s death had taken her cell phone and car.

On Sept. 11, police learned Destiny’s car was in Torrance. On Sept. 17, police located the car in Redondo Beach, California.

On Sept. 18, a Torrance officer spotted the car. The officer attempted to stop Albertt due to the car having no front license plate and tinted windows.

Officials with the Torrance Police Department said that Albertt was arrested following a chase when he tried to elude the officer.

When Albertt refused to stop, he eventually lost control of the vehicle and collided with several cars before running away. Officers found him in an apartment courtyard near the site of the accident.

Officers in Torrance identified the car’s owner as Destiny. Officers also said they located a cartridge on the ground near the car and a gun case in the trunk.

Police found two guns, multiple areas of blood splatter and a cracked phone inside the car.

After speaking with Albertt police learned he responded to a personal ad for Destiny and planned to rob her.

“Albertt said to Destiny, ‘I’m sorry’ and then shot her three times before pushing her body into the front passenger seat,” police wrote. Albertt then drove to Sloan where he removed her body and left her.

Albertt faces a charge of open murder and robbery with the use of a deadly weapon. He also may face charges in the California collision, police said.

He was in the process of being brought from California to Nevada to face charges, police said.
