Australian TV presenter Jesse Baird and his partner Luke Davies have been found deceased.
As some background into the men, Jesse had worked on Studio Ten on the Ten TV network until it was cancelled last year. He has had many tv presenter jobs, including Totally Wild which was a well known Australian Kids TV show.
Luke grew up in Brisbane, but moved to Sydney in November of last year. He works as a flight attendant.
Friend Sophie Inez said the pair had been dating for “a few months at most”.
“I spoke to Luke just before he moved from Brisbane to Sydney with work a few months ago,” Sophie said.
“He was so excited for his next chapter and flying long haul. He’s such a lovely and charismatic person.”
Another of Luke’s friends said “Luke has a lot of friends and is very fun social person. He is a kind and generous boy,” he said.
“He seemed to love his new job. All of his Brisbane friends are in utter shock to only find this out today.”
Australian media started reporting on Thursday February 22, 2024 that Luke had been reported missing.
Police released this statement:
Police will appeal for information as they investigate the suspicious disappearance of a man from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
Possessions belonging to 29-year-old Luke Davies and another man were found just after 11am yesterday (Wednesday 21 February 2024), in a skip-bin on Wilbar Avenue, Cronulla.
Following inquiries, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended a home in Brown Street, Paddington, about 1pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 February 2024).
After entering the property, officers immediately established a crime scene.
Police then attended Luke’s home in Waterloo, but he has not been located and his disappearance is being treated as suspicious.
Investigators are now trying to determine the location of a 26-year-old man, who they believe can assist with inquiries.
Information indicates Luke was in Paddington on Monday (19 February 2024). He has not been seen since, his family have been unable to contact him and he has not been at work.
Luke is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170cm-175cm tall with a medium build, brown hair and brown eyes. It’s not known what he was wearing at the time.
A lot of the articles have since been updated but initial reports insinuated that they were looking for Jesse in relation to this case. Luke was said to be in grave danger but there was no mention of that for Jesse. Police just said he was unable to be located.
Detective Superintendent Jodi Radmore spoke to the media and said it was likely some kind of incident had occurred at the Paddington house before the men’s disappearance.
“Witnesses talked about some shouting on Monday earlier in the morning,” she told reporters on Thursday afternoon.
“But it wasn’t reported to police at the time … it was only reported to police (on Wednesday).”
Early investigations indicated there was a struggle, with furniture moved around in the home, Detective Radmore said.
A local resident spoke to the media about items that police were taking from the house.
‘There were some bookshelf-type things and they were roped off,’ she said.
‘There wasn’t any soft furnishings (beds or couches) and I don’t know what they were doing with them.’
Blood found at the property also indicated someone had suffered a significant injury.
It is understood that blood had soaked through floorboards of the home and that attempts had been made to clean it.
Police found a phone, credit cards, a wallet, and a set of keys inside the skip. Some reports also say an $8000 watch was found in the bin.
Jesse and Luke’s credit cards have not been used since the weekend and they were discovered in the skip.
Two cars have also been seized from the Paddington property, along with a third from another location.
Police also said that one of the men had been apparently active on social media on Tuesday night.
At 4am on February 23, police made another statement.
About 11:30pm yesterday (Thursday 22 February 2024), police executed a search warrant on a home in Waite Avenue, Balmain, as part of an investigation into the disappearance of Luke Davies and Jesse Baird.
Officers seized a number of items. No further information regarding items taken from the property is available at this time.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Detectives are looking at a line of inquiry that a third person may be able to assist with the investigation.
Police are currently trying to locate him.
This third person is police officer Beau Lamarre.
General duties constable Beau Lamarre previously dated Jesse and police have been told by relatives that their break-up was “bitter”.
Beau hit headlines in 2020 after a video of him tasering a man during a dramatic arrest went viral.
He was later cleared by an internal investigation of any wrongdoing.
Prior to his job as a police officer he was a celebrity blogger who “came out” to Lady Gaga when he threw a note onto the stage during one of her concerts.
Investigators have said they want to speak with Beau but have been unable to find him.
It is understood he took sick leave this week.
According to The Australian, Beau was spotted outside the Sydney house Kourtney Kardashian was staying in last week, attempting to have his photograph taken with her.
We have learned this morning that CCTV footage, believed to be the last known sighting of the couple, shows them walking back to Jesse’s share house on Subday night and going inside. Reports say that Jesse had two female roommates.
One of Jesse’s friends spoke to the media and said they are very concerned for his welfare.
“I’m so scared for his wellbeing,” a friend told The Daily Telegraph.
“He used the word stalker,” the person said in relation to an unknown person.
Police have also said that Beau’s phone is turned off.
At around 10.30 am on Friday, Beau handed himself in at Bondi Police Starion.
He has since been charged with two counts of murder. It is alleged that he shot Luke and Jesse with his police service weapon. He then checked the gun back into the police station. Police have said that Beau has not yet revealed where the bodies are.
On Tuesday February 27, 2024, the bodies of Jesse and Luke were found at a property in Bungonia, near Goulburn. Beau obtained legal representation on this day and told police where their remains were.
Police held a press conference after the bodies were found. Here is a summary:
Two bodies have been found at around 1pm and family informed. Crime scene investigators just arrived.
Beau told them where the bodies were.
Bodies found at 1pm today. Off Jerrara Road in Bungonia, 20 mins away from the other site they searched.
Two surfboard bags found, covered with debris.
Beau spoke finally after getting a lawyer.
A reporter asked about the relationship between Beau and Jesse. ‘Some type of relationship at some stage’
Bodies found on a fence line near the entrance to a property.
Won’t comment on the state of the bodies. The bodies were in surf bags that is how they were transported from Paddington. I’m assuming he means surfboard bags?
Beau did goto the first property searched twice and got the bodies back, moved them to where they were found.
No evidence to suggest any other police assisted Beau at all.
Not known how many bullets were fired.
They asked what Beau’s employment status with the cops is – leave without pay. ![]()
