Kristina Joksimovic – Murder of a Beauty Queen

Swiss model and beauty queen Kristina Joksimovic was murdered by her husband.  He allegedly strangled and dismembered his wife, before destroying parts of her body with a blender and dissolving her remains in chemicals.

According to Swiss privacy laws, the full name of the husband cannot be released.  Some media outlets are reporting that his name is Thomas and he is 41 years old.

As some background, Kristina was discovered by a modelling scout when she was 16.  The scout found her on the streets of Basel in Switzerland and asked if she wanted to take part in a competition.  She agreed and was a finalist in the Miss Switzerland contest when she was 20.

She did not win the contest, but she called it a ‘life-changing moment’ and used it as launch pad to build her own business as a catwalk coach while also working in IT recruitment.

‘During this time, I was often approached by people who wanted to know how to walk across the stage beautifully,’ she said in an interview. It was only natural that overtime, she expanded into giving women from all walks of life, not just fellow models, the confidence to stride out in high heels.

‘When women without any modelling ambitions came to me, I realised that there was a great need to perform confidently,’ she said.

‘My clients are 60 per cent normal women without any modelling experience who just want to work on their posture, their insecurity in wearing high heels or their self-confidence, and on what looks they use to make a good first impression.’

Kristina’s social media, under the handle Catwalk Coach is still public.

Kristina and Thomas became engaged in December 2016.  She posted a photo on social media at the time that said ‘I said YES,’ #loveofmylife.

The couple were married in August 2017.  The setting was the Grandhotel Giessbach, a luxury hotel built in the style of a castle perched near to the thundering Giessbach falls, overlooking Lake Brienz.

‘Forever in your arms,’ wrote Kristina, when she shared a wedding gallery online. ‘Pure love,’ she wrote.

She made another post on their honeymoon, in which they went to Argentina and Antarctica.    ‘’My rock,’ she wrote.

In 2020 and 2021, the couple had two daughters, 17 months apart.

In September 2021, Kristina wrote on social media ‘I am proud of many things in life but nothing beats being a mother.”

Media reports indicate that things started to sour for the couple in 2022 when Thomas started his own business.  His temper changed quickly and the relationship started to crumble, a source close to Kristina said.

In July 2023, a police emergency report was made in relation to the couple.  Police were called to their home due to physical violence.

‘She wanted to break up, but was afraid of him,’ one unidentified friend told Swiss media.

In February 2024, Kristina’s father received a call from the kindergarten where Kristina and Thomas’ children were.  He was told that nobody had come to collect them and asked him to pick the kids up.  He did so and took them back to their home.

When he got to their home, only Thomas was there.  One of Kristina’s friends told the MailOnline: “For hours, he pretended as if nothing was wrong, chatting to her father and making dinner for everyone before tucking the children into their beds.”

Despite allegedly being told Kristina was not in the house, her father began to look around to see what he could find.

During his search, which took place on February 13, he is said to have stumbled upon a bin bag, inside which he could see his daughter’s recognizable gold hair.

There are some varying reports on this, just to note.  Other articles say that the father called Thomas to ask where Kristina was. Thomas calmly said that she was in the laundry room, in the basement of the house.

Kristina’s father is said to have been ‘rendered speechless by pain’ after he went into the basement and found Kristina’s remains.

“When he opened the black bin bag, he saw her cut off head with the hair still attached,” a friend said.

When Thomas was questioned, he initially claimed that he found Kristina dead near the stairs.  Then he changed his story to the incident happening in self-defense.  He said he panicked after she came at him with a knife.  He also claims he dismembered her (with a jigsaw, knife and garden shears) in the laundry room ‘in a panic’.

An autopsy determined that Kristina had first been strangled.  When she was being dismembered, her uterus was removed.

Parts of her body were then pureed with a hand blender and were dissolved in chemicals.

When police searched Thomas’ phone records, they discovered that he had likely been watching YouTube videos while he was dismembering his wife.

Court documents have given some more insight into the case and into Thomas.

Along with the gruesome autopsy findings, the report notes: ‘Based on the current status of the investigation, there are concrete indications that the complainant has a mental illness or a significant psychopathological personality disorder.

‘According to the investigations so far, he has displayed a conspicuously high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness following the killing of his wife, the mother of his two children.’

It goes on to note that medical reports contradict Kristina’s husband’s own claim of self-defence.

‘According to the findings of the experts, it is also not clear from the marks on the bodies of the victim and the complainant whether there was an alleged knife attack on him at all before the strangulation,’ it states.

It was, says the report, a ‘planned and systematic approach, over several hours, in dismembering and attempting to dispose of the corpse using special tools and chemicals’.

The documents also discuss instances in the past where Thomas was violent to a partner.

A previous partner gave evidence at a hearing this summer in which she documented his frequent tantrums, including a time he ran over her foot with his car, then later threatening to throw her out of the vehicle. Another time, while driving, he slammed on the brakes, leaving her with whiplash after she hit her head on the dashboard.

The public prosecutor’s office is yet to file charges against the husband, who is still in custody, 20min reported.
