Two men have gone missing from Mission Viejo in California in very similar circumstances and many people are questioning if their cases could be related.
The first man is Brandon Blackthorne. Brandon was 30 when he went missing on December 23, 2024 at 11.30pm. This info is from Patch.com:

Brandon Blackthorne, of Mission Viejo, was last seen on Dec. 23 leaving his home in Mission Viejo wearing a red polo shirt, white shorts with blue and red stripes, and driving a metallic grey 2016 Tesla model X.
The second man is Chandler Sykes. This info about his case is from Missing People in America:
Chandler Sykes called his mother at around 6:30am on December 22, 2024 asking for an Uber home from his location with a girl that he dates. At 6:46am a black Tesla from Uber picked him up from Silver Lantern Rd. in Dana Point, CA. At 7:02am he arrived at his destination on Zancon Rd. in Mission Viejo, according to the Uber tracking abilities. It is not clear if he went into his residence but he has not been seen or heard from since. He is described to have light brown hair and blue/green eyes and is 5’10” and 160 pounds.

Despite the info from MPIA regarding Chandler going missing on December 22, his father said the last communication was on December 23, at 11.30pm. Exactly the same time as Brandon was last heard from?

Both men have been confirmed to not be in any hospital or jails.

Brandon has no public criminal record. Chandler has a felony breaking and entering in 2018, a DUI in 2023 and a felony vandalism charge in 2024. He was also arrested a few months ago for battery of a spouse.
Both Brandon and Chandler are said to have been part of marijuana growing businesses or close to people who are involved in the industry.
This information is from an online comment regarding Chandler:
One of Chandler Sykes roommates (that his mom mentioned) Brent Acosta has a marijuana company licensed at that address. He has a bit of a record and he owns a plot of vacant land out in the middle of nowhere in Borrego Springs he paid for in cash. I hope PD checks that out.

This map shows the location of Brandon’s last ping compared to Chandler’s address.

There have been many questions as to if Brandon’s Tesla can be tracked. There is nothing confirmed but this is interesting info:

This is some information that was posted in our Facebook group. Keep in mind, there is not much confirmed in this case but we wanted to share it as it may have a bearing on whatever has happened.
‘I spoke to Chandler’s best friend who lives in NC where he is from and got some additional info:
-Both his parents still live in NC
-Only family member out here is his brother
-He moved out here 8 years ago to get sober. Once he got off the plane, his brother took him straight to rehab and was working in recovery until he started hanging around with the wrong people again, moved into that house and lost his job in October.
-He owes Brent money for rent since he lost his job
-He’s been dealing with depression since losing his job
-He does not have a car
-He called his mom early on the 22nd for an Uber from his girlfriends house and stated she was hitting him after he caught her cheating. He was hiding out on Silver Lantern Road in Dana Point waiting for the Uber, talking to his mom this whole time. A black tesla picked him up and his mom watched the Uber GPS screen get him all the way back to his house. But his roommates say they never saw him come back to or inside the house. He texted his brother on the 23rd. The girlfriend says he was on her way to her house at 11:20 pm on the 23rd and that was the last time heard from.
-The family also believes there is a connection between Chandler and Brandon.’
As another weird twist to the case, it appears that Brandon may be the son of millionaire murderer Allen Blackthorne.
Allen hired a hitman to kill his ex wife Sheila Bellush in 1997. The couple had divorced in 1987 and Allen allegedly stalked her for over ten years.
Info from Wikipedia about the murder and conviction: Allen was convicted of federal charges of interstate conspiracy to commit murder and interstate domestic violence. He received two concurrent life sentences without the possibility of parole, starting at the Beaumont, Texas federal prison. In 2001, he was nearly killed during an attack by a prison gang, after which he was segregated from the general prison population and eventually transferred to a Florida facility. Allen died aged 59 on November 18, 2014, at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. The cause of death in the case was not released.

On Thursday January 2, 2025, the bodies of two men were found in a mangled Tesla. This information is from Patch.com:
The bodies of two men were found in a partially submerged vehicle off Interstate 5 and Crown Valley Parkway Thursday night, officials say.
At approximately 11 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers learned of a vehicle found below the I-5 southbound Freeway, north of Crown Valley Parkway, between the freeway and a self-storage facility in Laguna Niguel.
“For reasons still under investigation, the 2016 Tesla veered off the roadway and ultimately came to rest in the creek, which runs just west of the freeway,” a CHP spokesperson said.
“Both the driver and passenger sustained fatal injuries as a result of this crash,” they said. The driver was wearing his seatbelt, and the CHP officers did not disclose if the passenger was also belted at the time of the crash.
Chandler’s father made a post on social media, confirming that both his son and Brandon were in the Tesla.
