On Monday February 10, 2025, police were called to a home in Big Horn County, Wyoming.
A woman named Tranyelle Harshman shot her four young daughters and then tried to kill herself.
The call came in to authorities at around 1.30pm.
It is believed that Tranyelle was the one to make the call. She reported gunshots and “further reported her daughters had been shot.”
Tranyelle allegedly told the 911 dispatcher that she believed the children were dead.
She told authorities that two of the children were dead in their cribs, and the other two children were located in a bedroom that they shared.
She then said that she was going to shoot herself in an upstairs bedroom of the home.
“The dispatcher pleaded with the female caller over the phone for the female caller to remain on the line until responding suits arrived,” the press release states. “The female caller stated multiple times that she could not do that and that it was too late. Multiple attempts to keep her on the line failed and the call was disconnected.”
Law enforcement arrived at the house within minutes of the 911 call being made.
The “nightmare” scene found by officers “should be something that no one should have to endure,” Sheriff Ken Blackburn said.
When they entered, they found two children, ages 2 and 9 deceased with gunshot wounds to the head.
The children involved have been named publicly online. This is a birth announcement that was posted after the birth of the fourth daughter:
Jordan Basil Harshman was born Jan. 1, 2023, at Powell Valley Healthcare to Cliff and Tranyelle Harshman of Powell.
She weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz.
Jordan joins siblings Brailey, 7, Olivia, 5, and Brooke, 10 months.
Two other children, aged 2 and 7 (because the youngest are only ten months apart), were found with gunshot wounds to the head but were still alive.
Tranyelle was found with a gunshot wound to the head and she was also still alive.
The 2-year-old who was initially found alive “succumbed a very short time later due to the extent of her injuries.”
It is believed that Olivia is the child who has survived so far. She and Tranyelle were transported to hospital.
Tranyelle’s sister, Savannah Rose, spoke to the media on Tuesday this week and confirmed that Tranyelle had shot the girls. Savannah said that Olivia was alive at that point and was sedated in hospital but responding to touch.
A GFM has been started for Cliff Harshman, Tranyelle’s husband. In one birth announcement, Olivia is said to have the last name Blackmer, so we aren’t entirely sure if Cliff is the bio dad of all the girls. He was definitely the father of the youngest two.
