The plot to murder ‘Ghost Adventures’ star Aaron Goodwin

In this blog, we are going to discuss the plot by Victoria Goodwin, to kill her husband Aaron Goodwin.  Aaron stars in the show ‘Ghost Adventures’, which is an American paranormal and reality television series that premiered on October 17, 2008, on the Travel Channel before moving to Discovery+ in 2021.  The show has been running for 28 seasons, so this was fairly big news amongst reality TV fans.

Aaron and Victoria met around 2018, according to People.

“I’m so lucky to have her in my life,” Aaron wrote in a 2019 Instagram post. “She helps me when I’m down & she always makes me laugh. I always feel safe when she is next to me holding my hand.”

They got engaged in 2019 – Aaron proposed to Victoria outside of the castle at Disneyland.  They ended up having to postpone their wedding multiple times due to the pandemic.  They finally got married in August 2022.   They held their wedding at the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.

In August 2024, the couple celebrated their second anniversary, with Aaron writing in an Instagram post: “2 years ago today I got to marry my best friend ❤️ I’m so lucky to have u in my life hun.”

The couple had no children together, but they did have four pets – a cat called Dodger, as well as a dog named Moose and two rats named Pascal and Rapunzel.

Prior to marrying Aaron, Victoria was a collegiate golfer.   She has spoken publicly about how she had to put her dreams of going pro on hold when she was diagnosed with achalasia, a rare condition that makes it hard to swallow.

“My heart goes out to my fellow Achalasia/CardioSpasm warriors, and all those dealing with chronic illnesses & PTSD,” Victoria wrote in an Instagram post that shared photos of her surgery scars. “I went 2 years without answers, medical gaslighting & misdiagnoses… Awareness matters.”

By October 2024, just over two years after they were married, things were going downhill for the couple.   Victoria began communicating with a prison inmate about wanting to get out of her marriage.

Victoria found Grant Amato after she watched a true-crime documentary that aired in April 2024.

The documentary “Ctrl+Alt+Desire” detailed Grant’s unhealthy obsession with an on-cam mode and his theft of $200,000 from his family.  Grant murdered his mother, his father and his brother before attempting to stage the scene as a murder-suicide, with his deceased brother being made to look like the murderer.

One month after the documentary aired, Victoria sparked a “pen pal” relationship with Grant, who is incarcerated in a Florida prison.

Victoria told Grant that she and Aaron were having problems in their marriage.

“She further described being lonely and began connecting with Amato,” the police report states.

The pair communicated mostly through text messages, according to the report.

“Am I a bad person? Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce,” she allegedly wrote in one message.

Victoria and Grant made a plan to be able to track Aaron’s location via the ‘Find My’ app on his phone.  Grant was then going to tell the location to a third party who would “take care of the situation.”

Aaron was on location at the time, filming Ghost Adventures.  “He’s asleep right now in the hotel room,” Grant allegedly wrote to the unnamed individual. “I need to know what’s going on. Can I get an update? Was it done?”

Victoria was arrested in March 2025 after authorities confiscated Grant’s phone.   She was arrested on charges of solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

It is alleged that she offered to pay Grant more than $11,500 in the murder-for-hire plot.

When she was arrested, Victoria denied that she had plotted to kill her husband.

“She described herself [as] sometimes daydreaming of being in a different situation, but she no longer felt that way,” the police report states. “She also stated she did not remember sending those particular messages. Victoria expressed her feeling of wanting to be without Aaron and with Amato, which she described as fantasy and daydreams.”

After Victoria was arrested, Aaron made this post on Instagram.

Victoria was arrested on March 6, 2025.  On March 12, 2025, Aaron filed for divorce.

In the divorce filing, Aaron is suing Victoria for assault, false imprisonment and negligence along with other claims.

Aaron is seeking more than $10,000 in punitive and exemplary damages, alleging Victoria  was “negligent in her marital actions.”

“Victoria’s conduct was extreme or outrageous with either the intention of or reckless disregard for, causing emotional distress to [Goodwin],” the court documents state, according to Us Weekly. “[He] suffered severe or extreme emotional distress as the actual or proximate result of [her] conduct.”

Aaron also accused Victoria of assault and false imprisonment, though specific details were not provided.

However, the documents claimed Victoria made Aaron “feel apprehension of harmful or offensive behavior” and alleged she aimed to “confine [him] within boundaries” established by her.

“[Victoria’s] act directly … resulted in such a confinement,” the documents allege. “[Goodwin] was conscious of the confinement or was harmed by it.”

The filing included a request that the court grant Aaron’s petition for divorce since Victoria allegedly committed a “concert of action,” which the documents specified as acting “with another … to commit a tort while acting in concert or pursuant to a common design.”

On April 12, Victoria accepted a plea deal. She pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit murder and will face a minimum sentence of two to 10 years in prison.  She is due to be sentenced on June 5, 2025.
