Celebrity Stalking Cases – September 2025

POST MALONE STALKING CASE

A woman named Cherish Gomer (some reports say she is 31, others say 32) has been arrested for a FIFTH time after stalking Post Malone.

On Monday August 4, 2025, Cherish was booked on Stalking, as well as Violation of a Permanent Criminal Stalking Injunction — both 3rd-degree felonies.

She has been arrested four other times in the past few months for similar offenses.

The first incident was on January 21, 2025.

She showed up at Post’s home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah after someone opened a gate to let a worker out.

When Cherish got access to the property, she refused to leave when asked and kept walking closer to the house.  She then sat on a bench until police arrived.

She was booked for criminal trespassing at that time.  Prior to this incident, she had been warned twice already that she was not allowed on the property.

She went to his home again on February 1, 2025.   She walked up the driveway that leads to the main house.

She pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of stalking.

The other two arrests happened on February 10 and July 27, 2025 with similar allegations being made against Cherish.

Cherish was also arrested on an intoxication charge in April following an incident in January 2025 that occurred at a Post Malone- themed Raising Cane’s.  She pleaded no contest to that charge.

The incident that happened on Monday August 4 involved Cherish hurling herself in front of Post’s car as his driver was driving outside his home.   The driver had to make a split-second swerve to avoid a collision.

‘She truly believes she has a calling from some sort of spirit animal, and she thinks she has a relationship with Mr. Post, and so she’s “entitled” to do this, which is incredibly alarming,’ Robby Russo, Cottonwood Heights police chief said.

Post’s family have said that Cherish’s behavior has escalated since the start of the year and has not ceased at all.

Rich Post, Post’s dad, spoke to the media and said that Cherish has shown up at the home at least a dozen times.  Once she walked from Salt Lake City and showed up barefoot at the home – this is a 4 hour 41 min-16 mile/27km walk according to Google maps.

Law enforcement wrote in a police booking affidavit after the car incident that Cherish “continues to stalk her victim and is always released from jail. She does not care about the consequences of her offenses, and will continue to cause significant emotional distress to her victim.”

According to court documents, she is homeless and reportedly “difficult to find.”

Police have said their goal is not only to protect Post and his family, but also protect the woman “from herself.”

“We’ve exhausted all the remedies available within the system and the law, so we have the protective order, we keep arresting her, we keep putting her in jail and before a magistrate,” Chief Russo said. “We’re hoping to find another remedy that keeps her away from the home and into some sort of program that helps her.”

‘The victim is a celebrity and already deals with a significant amount of people following him and showing up at his residence, never allowing for privacy,’ the arresting officer wrote in court docs obtained by Gephardt Daily News.

As of the time of recording, Cherish is being held without bail at the Salt Lake County Jail.

JENNIFER ANISTON STALKER CASE

Jennifer Aniston also has a stalker.  His name is Jimmy Wayne Carwyle.  As of May 2025, he was 48 years old and he was originally from Mississippi.

Before we get into the stalking incident, we will run through some info about Jimmy.

There is a really great substack on this case. Many of the quotes in this blog are taken from there.

Some people who know Jimmy have spoken about him to the media.

“Jimmy was just a regular guy,” says Marty Merritt, a Baptist pastor who knew Carwyle since childhood in New Albany, Mississippi. “We went to school together, and later reconnected at church. There was nothing that would make you think, ‘This guy’s going to end up on the news.'”

Customers at the garage where he worked described him as “knowledgeable” and “friendly, but not overly talkative.” He wasn’t the type to draw attention to himself, just a competent mechanic who’d lived his entire life in the community.

In 2019,  Jimmy married a woman named Julia.  A Facebook post from that time shows a smiling couple with the caption: “My best friend is better than yours!!! I married mine❤️❤️.”

“When they first got together, they seemed good for each other,” says another childhood friend who asked to remain anonymous. “Nothing that would make you raise an eyebrow.”

It seems that in early 2020 during the first stages of the pandemic, things changed for Jimmy.

“I knew something was terribly wrong because Jimmy was saying things that was just crazy,” Marty Merritt would later say. “He was talking out of his head. This was not the same Jimmy that I grew up knowing.”

Jimmy quit his job as an automotive tech with no explanation.  He started sending weird texts to friends.  Marty described the messages as “assertions of being both God and the Antichrist.”

“At first, I thought maybe he was joking,” Marty said. “But then the messages kept coming, and they got stranger. He started saying God had special plans for him, that he had a divine mission. This wasn’t the Jimmy I knew.” In a video Marty posted online, he stated that he believed that the drugs Jimmy began to use during the COVID shutdown were a major factor in his decline.

His marriage to Julia fell apart by 2021.  Jimmy was arrested for domestic violence.  This was his first documented encounter with LE.

“He believed he was Jesus Christ,” Julia later told reporters.   “His mentality is nothing like it used to be. Something has triggered him.”

In September 2024, Jimmy left Mississippi for California.  Julia would later say that was his third trip to the region and his goal was to get in contact with Jennifer.  “That’s his third trip out there to try and meet her,” Julia said. “I think he probably got a little aggravated because he could not (meet her).”

When he arrived in California, he began living in his car in a Walmart parking lot.

In November 2024, he posted a selfie from a Walmart bathroom with the caption:

“Jen your ‘homeless’ Husband need’s a shower.”

His social media posts during this period became increasingly desperate and paranoid. “If someone out there can reach Jennifer Joanna Aniston Carwyle, let her know about the corruption going on trying to keep Me from her, you will be Blessed!” he wrote in October.

One post refers to her as his “bride,” while at least five others feature her full name.

“I’ve been writing since the Beginning, Jennifer Joanna Aniston Carwyle, with you,” he wrote in one post, already referring to her with his surname. In another, he shared a typed letter stating: “Jen, My Beautiful Wife… Michael is our child.”

On Monday May 5, 2025, Jimmy allegedly crashed his car through the gates of Jennifer’s $21m Bel Air mansion.

After Jimmy drove through the gates, Jennifer’s security rushed and pulled him out of the vehicle.  They held him at gunpoint until LAPD officers arrived on the scene.

Officer Jeff Lee, an LAPD spokesman, confirmed: “The incident occurred at approximately 12:20PM PT” and officers were responding to a call about a “burglary suspect” who “ran his vehicle through the gate to the residence.”

“The resident was home at the time,” he added.

A public information officer for the LAPD said: “A driver approximately 70 years of age (lol) rammed his vehicle through the gate to the residence and gained access to the property.

“There was a security guard on premises who was able to detain that suspect until officers arrived, at which time they took him into custody without incident.”

Jimmy was taken to hospital as he suffered back injuries during the crash.

On Thursday May 8, 2025, Jimmy appeared in court shirtless and wrapped in a blanket.

He did not enter a plea or speak during the hearing.

Prosecutors claimed that Jimmy had been harassing Jennifer with a barrage of voicemails, emails and social media messages in the two years leading up to his break-in attempt.

The judge ordered Jimmy to not have any contact with Jennifer and to stay 100 yards away from her residence.  Jimmy became visibly agitated and said  “But she’s waiting for me.”

Judge Keith L. Schwartz ordered he proceed through the mental health court in a bid to determine whether he’s of sound mind to face felony stalking and vandalism charges.

“You are not to have any contact with Jennifer Aniston under any conditions,” Judge Schwartz ordered.

Judge Schwartz set bail at $US150,000. His next hearing was ordered to take place at the Mental Health Court in Hollywood on May 22.

During that hearing, Jimmy was found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

This info about the hearing is from AP News:

A county-appointed psychiatrist who evaluated Carwyle found the defendant incompetent, Deputy Public Defender Robert Krauss told the judge as he stood near his client with glass separating them. But Krauss said Carwyle, as is his right, would like an evaluation from a different psychiatrist.

Carwyle faces an aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm. If convicted, he could get up to three years in prison. If Carwyle is found incompetent again, the judge could order him to be sent to a state mental hospital for treatment and ongoing evaluation.

“I should be allowed to explain my relationship with Jennifer,” Jimmy reportedly told his attorney.

Jimmy was granted his request for a second evaluation on May 29, 2025.   The second psychiatrist reached the same conclusion and declared that Jimmy was incompetent to stand trial.

Competency to stand trial hinges on whether a defendant can:

  • Understand the nature and purpose of the legal proceedings against them
  • Rationally consult with their attorney
  • Assist in preparing their own defense

Criminal proceedings are now suspended while Jimmy undergoes treatment.  This usually involves a combination of psychiatric treatment, medication, and legal education in a secure facility. California law allows for up to two years of treatment before authorities must either find alternate arrangements or dismiss charges.
