Alex Rupp shot his pregnant wife Nicole dead after he mistook her for an intruder

An ‘highly agitated’ man made a call to 911 in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, 4 November 2020.

According to NBC, when officers arrived, the man was standing outside the home with the couple’s other child yelling for help. He told police that he had shot his wife by accident and his “life is over,” the report states.

The wife was found inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun with an attached light that was turned on was found next to her and another handgun was located on a dresser in the couple’s bedroom, according to the report.

An ambulance rushed the wife to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office told local station WPBF in Tequesta that the wife was six months pregnant and doctors were able to save the baby. The baby is in a critical condition in hospital.

Sheriff William Snyder said that the husband said he woke up in the middle of the night, thought he heard an intruder in the home and grabbed his firearm to investigate. The man, who said he didn’t realize his wife had gotten up, saw a shape in the hallway and fired a single shot, the sheriff said.

Snyder said there is no indication that the shooting was more than just a mistake, but it is still being treated as a suspicious death.

“Though we do have a good statement from him, we don’t take anything at face value and we’ll continue investigating, do all of the backgrounds. There’s a lot of investigative steps that we’ll take to make sure that he’s telling the truth,” he told news media.

Even though the couple have not been identified by the media, public records indicate that the property is owned by Rupp Marine LLC, a business that specializes in sport fishing and marine hardware. The homeowners are listed via public record, and it is believed the husband may be Alex Rupp.

  1. I definitely think it was an accident. But why did he have two guns out? And if the gun on the dresser was the one used to shoot her, a distraught person isn’t going to just set the weapon down. If I accidentally shot someone, I’d drop the gun. I’d be repulsed by it.

  2. What a load of rubbish. Surely if you thought an intruder had broke into your home, you would make sure all your family were safe before shooting. Did he not wonder were his wife was? Its the same as that Pistorious the athlete with no legs who shot his girlfriend in the toilet. Guilty as sin.

  3. Shoot first, ask questions later. Oops. Another example of trigger happy people. Sad for the woman, but the guy should be investigated.
