Alexis’ posts and online records show that she likely married a man named Thomas Sharkey III in December 2019.

You can see Thomas’ Facebook here – https://facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002974593423

There is currently some discussion online as to if the couple are actually married. There is an online record of a marriage from December 20, 2019, but who knows?

Thomas is 49 and Alexis is 26.

Alexis’ mother said they were first alerted to her being missing by both Thomas, and another unnamed friend.

Alexis’ friends quickly started making public social media pleas for her safe return. At the time of this blog post, Alexis’ mother and her husband have not made any additional posts about her case for 20 hours.

Around the same time that news of Alexis’ disappearance was breaking, reports of a body being found in Houston also started emerging.

According to ABC13,

Authorities are investigating after a City of Houston public works employee found a naked woman’s body Saturday morning.

Houston police detectives said that around 8 a.m., the employee was driving in the 1000 block of Red Haw, near the Katy Freeway and Eldridge Parkway, when they saw feet in the bushes.

The woman, who was believed to be in her 20s, was found naked on the side of the road. Police say she had no visible injuries.

Authorities believe her body was there overnight.

The medical examiner will do a follow up.

At this time, the body has not been confirmed as relating to Alexis’ case, but the timing is interesting, as is the location where the body was found, in relation to Alexis and Thomas’ apartment.

The area where the body was found

Thomas Sharkey has a prior criminal record. You can read details here.

On November 29, news agencies finally started to pick up the story. According to ABC13, Alexis was last heard from by her family on November 25. Thomas says he last saw her on November 27.

A mother is desperately searching for her 26-year-old daughter who has been missing since Friday, according to her family.

Stacey Robinault told Eyewitness News on Sunday she has not spoken with her daughter, Alexis Sharkey, since just before Thanksgiving.

She said the two were discussing Christmas plans on Wednesday.

“[Thanksgiving] was a busy day on her end and our end and so it was just one of those passing, type of ‘Love you’ things,” explained Robinault, who spoke with ABC13 via FaceTime from her home in northwestern Pennsylvania. “Then Friday … honestly, Friday got away. [It was a] busy day. We never talked, and then she went missing Friday night and I have not seen her or heard from her since.”

Since then, no one has heard from Sharkey, according to Robinault.

The mom said she has tried calling Sharkey’s phone, but all calls are sent to her voicemail.

Sharkey and her husband recently moved to Houston in January. Robinault said he called the family to let her know she went missing. He hasn’t heard from her since Friday.

“We were notified on Saturday that she was missing by her husband,” she said. “[He] called us up to let us know, and that’s when, of course, any parent goes into full panic mode.”

The last time Sharkey was in her hometown in Pennsylvania was last Christmas. Sharkey has two sisters who have also been trying to contact her.

“She would not necessarily contact me every day,” said Robinault. “She’s kind of got an independent flare, so I just let her live and we just communicate as needed and definitely do. But she has a close-knit group of friends. They’ve never known her to disappear and I’ve never known her to not communicate when we reach out to her … ever. She always has her phone with her. She always responds.

It is unknown if Alexis’s vehicle is also missing, but her mother made a note of it in the ABC13 article:

She also goes by the nicknames “Lexis” or “Lex” and drives a white Jeep Rubicon.

If you have any information about Alexis, you’re asked to call the Houston Police Department and reference case #158281920.

An alleged family member has been commenting on posts about Alexis, saying she is deceased. The name has been blurred as this person is a minor.

Alexis’ mother has confirmed that she has been recovered deceased. The naked body we spoke about belongs to Alexis.

Alexis’ husband has started posting on social media about her death:

There are rumors circulating that Alexis was planning to divorce Tom. Her friends have started to use the hashtag #justiceforalexis

A group member sent us this additional information about Alexis’ recent trip to Mexico:

According to news sources, Alexis was allegedly identified by fingerprints:

Alexis has now been listed on the Harris County Medical Examiner website. Her cause of death is pending.

A final image of Alexis has been made public:

Alexis’ mother has now spoken publicly about her daughter’s death:

ABC13 have a very detailed article about this case – Body found on side of road is that of Instagram influencer from Houston

The Daily Beast are reporting that Thomas Sharkey was abusive towards Alexis in the past:

“Her and her husband were going through a divorce,” one friend said. The decision to end her marriage, the friend said, came after a girls’ trip to Marfa, Texas, last month, where Sharkey claimed her husband “had been putting hands on her.”

“Throughout the trip, he was sending really awful, nasty messages to her,” the friend said. “But one night when she and I were talking alone she said, ‘He strangles me and chokes me out and I blackout and wake up on the bathroom floor every single time.’”

Two other friends also told The Daily Beast that Sharkey had complained about physical abuse and said her husband could be “controlling and manipulative” in group settings.

While it’s unclear if Sharkey had actually filed paperwork to dissolve her marriage, friends said that her behavior had changed over the last month. She wasn’t posting on social media quite as much, and she always wanted “to be around her friends all the time to avoid going home.”

“I know they were going through some things,” Kendra Martin, one of Sharkey’s friends, told The Daily Beast. “She had mentioned being separated even though they were still living in the same apartment. I actually pulled her aside two weeks ago to let her know I’m here for her, and that I know something is going on because her demeanor had changed over the last month.”

Her hardships at home prompted Sharkey to spend Thanksgiving with her friend Tanya R. and her family. Tanya told The Daily Beast that Sharkey had “a wonderful time,” laughing and playing board games.

The Daily Beast article also revealed some information as to the last time Tom allegedly saw Alexis:

Two friends said Tom Sharkey told them he had gotten into an argument with his wife before she went missing and claimed she had “hopped over their patio fence and into a car.”

Seb Marmolejo has been named as the man Alexis was allegedly with in Mexico:

Tom Sharkey made his social media accounts private on November 30. He has also been speaking to the media. He gave a weird six minute long interview to ABC13.

Sharkey said he’s received death threats since his wife’s disappearance and death made headlines across this country. Sharkey described his marriage as happy. He said they weren’t filing for a divorce.

“She wasn’t happy. She was stressed. I would cuddle her to try to make her strong. She was an amazing woman. Sir, my wife was an amazing woman. She really was. There’s always other sides to everything. I was the one holding her, cuddling her, and building her back up,” said Sharkey. “I don’t need to set the record straight. I’ll let it play out the way it is. I know what my life was with my wife.”

Alexis’ ‘friends’ have also been speaking to the media about their thoughts on her death:

As of December 7, no more details about Alexis’ death have been released. Her incomplete obituary has popped up online.

The Nelson Funeral Home will be handling Alexis’ services.

While we wait for more information, here are some articles to occupy your time:

‘Murdered’ Houston influencer Alexis Sharkey, 26, was an executive director in a beauty ‘pyramid scheme’ whose products ‘made users’ hair fall out’

On January 19th, 2021, Harris county medical examiner released Alexis’s cause of death, strangulation. The manner of death was homicide. Houston police are still investigating.

Reports are also circulating that Alexis’s family and husband have been arguing about where her final resting place will be.

On October 6 2021, police confirmed that Alexis’ husband Thomas Sharkey had shot himself in the head. Officers had gone to Tom’s daughter’s house in Fort Myers, Florida on the premise of arresting him for Alexis’ murder and he took his own life as they attempted to enter the property. This info is from abc13:

On Wednesday, Houston police confirmed the 26-year-old’s husband, Tom Sharkey, was wanted for his wife’s murder, and that he had died of an apparent gunshot wound to the head as authorities in Florida attempted to take him into custody.

During a briefing with the media, investigators said Tom Sharkey was the only person with a motive in the murder case, believing the killing was the result of domestic violence.

They added a warrant for his arrest was issued on Sept. 29, with plans to take him into custody in Harris County. But with Tom Sharkey not in the area, a fugitive task force tracked him to the Fort Myers, Florida, area, where on Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals Service located him at a relative’s home.

It was there that as authorities asked to speak with him that Tom Sharkey used a firearm and shot himself to death, police said.

This was the first time that police have said publicly that Tom was wanted for Alexis’ murder.

Now that Tom is dead, it may be unlikely that we will ever know what truly happened on the night that Alexis died. We will update this blog if any more information is released.

Rest in Peace, Alexis.

  1. This is so very sad. I hope they will find out what happened to her and if there was foul play, I hope that the culprits are brought to justice.

  2. I have been following the story. I hope the police are really taking a deep dark look at the husband. Things are not adding up and they don’t look good for him at all. I hope they get justice for this beautiful girl and her family !! 💔🙏🏼

  3. This guys story does not add up. For multiple reasons. But the whole “argument” where he makes it seem like it was no big deal…he just didn’t want her driving drunk. So he was cool with her walking around the neighborhood supposedly drunk? And why would she do that anyway? Where was she supposedly going?

  4. I can tell you that my mom is a detective and worked a case like this not too long ago… hard to prove with no trauma wounds but I bet they had sex / raped and he smothered her. Period. He had one last hooray and then smothered her. DNA kit would be useless considering it’s her husband.

  5. I lived less than 5 miles from their apartment off of Westheimer for 2+ years and I just keep wondering why someone would dump her nude body right off of I10 unless they were trying to paint it as a mystery when in face it’s probably the most obvious suspect (her husband). The way her body was left nude, it paints the picture of a stranger who discareded her after a sexual assault. All of the evidence makes me think that the husband attempted to conceal an act of femocide. If she threatened to leave and he couldn’t stand the idea of her being with someone else, he might have planned the murder over the course of weeks or months. Read this article and tell me that this isn’t what is happening: https://academic.oup.com/bjc/article/59/5/1054/5489005

  6. The husband found out about the affair, they had an argument, he strangled her and killed her. Dumped her body, left her naked so none of his DNA would be on her clothes or seen. He knew she did not want to be with him anymore, so if ” i can’t have you, nobody can”

  7. Not buying that the husband did it. I feel like if the husband killed her he would of hid her body much better, he was a big man. This seems to me like like somebody who was not strong enough to properly hide a body just pushed her in a bush.

  8. more investigation needs to be done on the friends, all the negative information of the marriage is coming from the friends… seems like a set up on the husband. Easy to get clout of a dead new friend..we all want to believe its the husband but im not so sure..
