The horrific murder of Sade Robinson

Sade Robinson was a 19 year old female who was murdered and dismembered in April 2024 allegedly by Maxwell Anderson, after she met him for a date in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sade was born on May 10, 2004 in Vicksburg, MS.  She attended high school at Riverside High School on Milwaukee’s East Side.  She excelled both academically and socially.  She graduated high school a semester early, in December 2021.  She was just about to graduate from Milwaukee Area Technical College with a degree in Criminal Justice.  She was thinking about joining the US Air Force after graduation.

While she was studying, Sade worked two jobs and rented an apartment.  One of her jobs was at a restaurant called Pizza Shuttle, where she worked for three years.  Her co-workers have said that she was a customer favorite.  Her family have said that she was a loving daughter, cherished sister and a dear friend to many.

Sade’s father Carlos said she gave his life purpose.  “I watched her grow from a tiny little baby to a beautiful, intelligent young lady that would make any father proud.”

Sade’s friends have also spoken about her.  “Sade Carleena Robinson — she was the most beautiful girl in the world,” said Kara Quinnell, who met Sade in kindergarten. “Her laugh was contagious. … She was confident in the best way possible. … She was unstoppable and not in an arrogant way.”

On April 1, 2024, Sade met up with bartender Maxwell Anderson for a date.

We have tried to find out info about how they initially met but there is nothing confirmed that we can find.  Some online comments do indicate they met on a dating app.

Sade spoke to an employee of her apartment complex and said that she was excited for the date which was planned for the evening on April 1.

At around 9am on that day, Sade was seen on CCTV leaving her apartment, wearing a black puffy coat, white shirt, jeans and white shoes.

At 5.09pm on April 1, Maxwell was seen on CCTV entering the Twisted Fisherman restaurant.  Sade entered the restaurant at 5.20pm.

They met at the bar and had some drinks before they left together at 6.24pm.

They left together, with Sade still wearing the same clothes that she left her apartment in that morning.

As per the text conversation, Maxwell was a former employee of the Twisted Fisherman.  Before Sade arrived, Maxwell went in and told an employee that he was meeting a female for a ‘first date’.

After they left the restaurant, they went in Sade’s car to Duke’s Bar.  I believe they arrived there at around 6.30pm.  Sade sent a SnapChat to a friend from that location.  She and Maxwell left the bar at 9.06pm.

At 9.44pm, Sade’s phone pinged in the location of Maxwell’s home.  CCTV shows two people going into the home that night.

At 12.48pm, Sade’s phone left Maxwell’s home.  It travelled through Milwaukee’s downtown  and continued north.

At 1.33am, the phone traveled to Pleasant Valley Park, along the Milwaukee River.

At 2am, the phone left that area and went to Warnimont Park, arriving at 2.45am.

CCTV at 2.53am showed a car heading towards the pump house at the park.

At 3.02am, CCTV captured a human figure descending the bluff to beach level.

The car left the area at 4.31am.  Sade’s phone lost battery minutes after this.

At 7.29am, CCTV captured a white male (probably Maxwell) walking away from a car fire burning in a parking lot on North 29th Street.  A witness would later tell police that he saw the male get out of the car and toss a lighter into it, before walking away.

The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to the fire at 7.32am.  The vehicle was identified as a 2020 Honda Civic and the owner was noted as Sade Robinson.  The clothing that she had been last seen wearing, as well as her iphone, were found in the vehicle.

At 8.35am, CCTV showed Maxwell getting off a bus near his home.  He arrived back at his residence at 8.43am.

Later that morning city workers reported that someone used a car to ram open a gate to a service road leading to the pump house.  Pieces of a broken Honda Civic were found at that scene.

At 5.29pm, a member of the public came across a human leg, appearing to belong to a black female at Warnimont Park.  The left was found around ⅔ way down a 100 foot bluff, near the pump house.

You can read more about the discovery in the criminal complaint.

At 9pm that night, a friend of Sade’s, named AJ, reported her missing to Milwaukee Police after she failed to show up to work.  She had also not returned any phone calls.

Police conducted a welfare check at Sade’s apartment on April 3 and they were unable to make contact with her.

After police heard about the discovery of the leg, an Officer Burlo contacted the Milwaukee County Sheriff to inform them of Sade being missing.  Sade was listed as being 5 foot and the leg was thought to have belonged to someone who was around that height.

Police obtained Sade’s phone records and discovered that her phone had been in the area near where the leg was discovered.   Friends also tracked Sade’s phone using the Life360 app and it said that she was in Warnimont Park on April 2 at 4.30am.

On April 6, police officers were searching the area where Sade’s car was found.  During that search, a human foot was located, as well as another piece of human flesh.

The foot was thought to belong to the same person as the leg that was found in Warnimont Park.  This was due to the skin tone, size and matching nail polish.  The remains were found around 1 block away from where Sade’s car had been torched.

Police started looking at CCTV in the area and they found footage of Maxwell (allegedly) setting the car on fire before walking away.  The passerby who discovered the fire can be heard yelling ‘he did that’ as Maxwell walked away.

Very clear footage of Maxwell on the bus, going back to his home was found.

Police pulled Maxwell over during a traffic stop on April 4.  He was charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide, Mutilating a Corpse and Arson.

As some background into Maxwell, he does have a criminal past.  This info about his past is from JSOnline.com

While Anderson was visiting his family from Colorado, a relative returned home from work in July 2014 and found Anderson acting strangely and sweating profusely. He would not answer his relative’s questions.

Eventually, Anderson began screaming and throwing things and shut his relative in a room while he tried calling his father on the phone. When a deputy arrived at the home, Anderson stole his relative’s car and crashed it into a patio when he returned to the home.

He also got into a physical confrontation with another relative. That resulted in the relative breaking multiple ribs. Anderson ended up in the hospital with a broken collar bone.

One relative told investigators she believed Anderson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Anderson was charged with two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct. He pleaded guilty to one count in October 2014. He paid a $416 fine.

In June 2015, Anderson had been staying in relatives’ basement in Egg Harbor for about two months. The relatives told officers they tried talking to him about house rules because he had been coming and going whenever he wanted and wasn’t cleaning up after himself.

At one point, a relative suggested Anderson seek help for mental health issues and Anderson reacted violently. He threw a glass, punched a hole in the wall and smashed his relatives’ two cell phones when they tried calling police.

Without a landline phone, a relative then had to go to a neighbor’s house to call the police.

The damage Anderson caused was estimated at more than $1,300.

Anderson was charged with four misdemeanors. In October 2015, he pleaded guilty to three of them: criminal damage to property, intimidating a witness and disorderly conduct, domestic abuse.

He was placed on probation for a year and was required to pay fines and restitution, along with maintaining full time employment or schooling and completing any programs deemed necessary by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

During this time, Anderson reported an address in Sister Bay but eventually changed it back to Oconomowoc.

2019 battery in Milwaukee

In September 2019, Anderson was arguing with a woman on the 2300 block of West Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee when a witness tried to intervene. Anderson then attacked the man, and a video showed Anderson on top of him while punching him.

He was charged with two misdemeanors: battery, which was dismissed, and disorderly conduct, to which Anderson pleaded guilty.

He was given one year of probation and ordered to maintain employment, submit to random urine screens, perform 25 hours of community service and pay more than $7,000 in restitution to the victim. Anderson paid the restitution.

At this time, Anderson was living at a south side Milwaukee address that he eventually purchased in 2020, according to property records.

2022 drunk driving incident in West Allis

In January 2022, Anderson was pulled over by West Allis police after an officer saw a vehicle driving about 70 mph in a 30-mph zone and run a flashing red light.

Anderson said he was coming home from work as a bartender and security guard at a Milwaukee bar. A breathalyzer showed a blood-alcohol content of .145, he had an open container in his car and he admitted to drinking alcohol.

It was his second drunk driving offense — the first conviction coming in 2014 in Waukesha County. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.

Anderson was again placed on a year of probation. He was ordered to pay a $350 fine and his license was suspended.

In August that year, Anderson was cited for driving while suspended in Ozaukee County.

That month, at a court hearing, Anderson’s probation agent reported Anderson was testing positive for cocaine, THC and alcohol. A Milwaukee County judge then ordered Anderson to maintain sobriety as a condition of his probation.

In March 2023, Anderson was discharged from probation.

On April 19, Maxwell’s father released a statement.

“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to express our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Sade Robinson. We are shocked and devastated by her senseless death,” Steven Anderson wrote in a statement released by the attorney firm representing Maxwell Anderson.

He also asked for privacy for his family.

On this day, a torso and an arm were found by someone walking along Lake Michigan.

On Monday April 22, it was announced that blood that had been found in Maxwell’s home did not belong to Sade.

Blood had been found on bedding in a bedroom, on a stairwell wall to the basement and in an unspecified location.

This info is from the criminal complaint.

“Complainant knows that preliminary testing of the blood was done by the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, and that the preliminary DNA analysis supports the conclusion that there is no support for inclusion of Robinson’s DNA in any of the blood or swabs tested, and of some of those swabs, Robinson’s DNA is excluded.”

The blood was later found to be animal blood.

On May 11, 2024, a severed arm was found in Waukegan, Illinois.  Sade’s family believe it belongs to her.

Alderman Keith Turner posted a photo of the arm on his social media and it has angered many.

On Saturday, May 18, Waukegan Mayor Ann Taylor released a statement, saying:

“This week, Waukegan Police received a call that a severed arm had been found along the shores of Lake Michigan in Waukegan. The Waukegan Police Department proactively communicated with Milwaukee County law enforcement since the moment of this discovery, as they were aware of the Sade Robinson homicide in Wisconsin. The remains are currently in possession of the Lake County Coroner’s Office, which is conducting DNA testing to confirm the identity of the victim. The City of Waukegan does not comment on active criminal investigations, especially in cases where the City is not the lead agency. This policy is intended to preserve the investigation’s integrity and respect the privacy of victims and their families. That is why no public statements were made until Alderman Keith Turner posted a graphic photo of the remains on his Facebook account.”

“Alderman Keith Turner at no time contacted the Waukegan Police command staff or anyone within Waukegan City government to ask about this incident before posting the photo of the remains on Facebook. The City did not provide Ald. Turner with the photograph, and he was never given permission to post the photo on his Facebook page. Individual Aldermen are not authorized to speak on behalf of the City, much less for the Police Department. On behalf of the City of Waukegan, I find the posting of an image of this type to be morally disgusting, socially irresponsible, and extremely cruel to the victim’s family. I hope all Waukeganites join me in prayer for the victim of this horrific crime and for the victim’s family.” – Waukegan Mayor Ann Taylor

Sheena Scarbrough, Sade’s mother, has pleaded with Maxwell and his family to tell her where Sade’s remains are so that she can be laid to rest.  Her attorney, Verona Swanigan  said “Sheena Scarbrough is pleading with the parents of Maxwell Anderson to convince him to be honest and do one thing right in his life by confessing where Sade Robinson’s remains are located so Sade can be put to rest and this constant daily torture of new discoveries of her body can end.”
