UPDATE – Cameron’s autopsy results have come back and he died from ‘sudden unexpected death in Epilepsy’.
Hollywood stars are among those who have paid tribute to Disney star Cameron Boyce, after he was found dead in his bed on July 6, 2019.
Cameron was best known for his role as Cruella de Vil’s son in the Descendants TV movies, and as Luke Ross on Jessie, which also starred Debby Ryan. Cameron’s upcoming Disney Channel musical film, Descendants 3, sees the young star reprising his role as Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil. Descendants 3 is set to be released on August 2.
Cameron began to branch out from Disney Channel and worked on three separate projects that will now become post-humous releases (Runt, Mrs. Fletcher, Paradise City).
How did he die?
Cameron lived with a roommate in their North Hollywood home. According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner, ‘In the early afternoon of July 6, Cameron Mica Boyce (DOB: 05/28/99) was found unresponsive in his home located in the 5100 block of Cartwright Avenue in North Hollywood. Authorities were called and Boyce was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 p.m.’
His family released a statement saying that he passed away in his sleep from a seizure. It has since emerged that he suffered from epilepsy.
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” the family spokesperson said. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.””The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
However, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner was not able to determine a cause of death immediately following an autopsy. They have deferred Cameron’s cause of death pending further testing, including toxicology.
