The Unsolved Murder of Elizabeth Barraza

TOMBALL – TX

In the early morning hours of Friday, January 25th 2019, Sergio Barraza left for work. Sergio’s wife, Elizabeth Barraza (Liz) had the day off and was setting up for a garage sale at their home in Tomball Texas.

Sergio left home at 6:48 am.

Liz was murdered at 6:52 am.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect, who appears to be a woman dressed in a light colored robe, getting out of the truck and walking toward Barraza’s home.

Liz appears to be startled and takes a step back as the shooter approaches her.

Eight short seconds pass before the suspect lifts their arm and shoots her at point-blank rage, firing three times. Liz falls to the ground, the suspect steps over her body and fires one more shot.

The suspect is then seen sprinting back to the truck and speeding away from the scene.

Neighbors called 911 and Liz was rushed to a hospital. She died from her injuries on January 26th, 2019.

On 1 February, 2019, family and friends held a vigil for Liz.

On February 6, 2019, a press conference was held and more details were released:

A few notes from the press release:

Liz and Sergio were Star Wars fans and heavily involved with the 501st Legion. I mean HEAVILY involved. It was her life. So of course, I dove right into this unknown Star Wars world.

A small clip on what Liz and Sergio did as a couple. Making these kids smile was one of the many acts of kindness she lived for.

I’m personally not a big star wars fan (*GASP* I know, it’s unheard of) so seeing the amount of detail and rules each handmade costume piece has, is fascinating to me.

Even if you are not a huge fan, take a look, it’s amazing.

On a separate note, I’ve searched this list and studied every single female costume in here. A few of them closely resemble what could be worn by the killer. Could her murder somehow be linked to the 501st Legion lifestyle?

That’s definitely a rabbit hole I have traveled down.

Who murdered Liz Barraza? Many theories are floating all around social media. Was it a scorned ex-lover? A jealous friend? Was Sergio involved in an affair? Was Liz involved in an affair? Why did the killer wait for Sergio to leave? Did the killer know Liz was off work that day? Why hasn’t law enforcement identified this truck? Was the killer wearing a wig? A robe? Is it a male disguised as female?

Liz was murdered at 7am on a Friday. A school day. One question I keep asking myself is did Law Enforcement get school bus footage or store surveillance from the area?
