Paige Escalera (25) and her fiancé Stephanie Mayorga (27) are missing, in what police are calling suspicious circumstances. Their grey 2013 Dodge Dart registered to Escalera with a South Carolina tag (MVS-902) is also missing.

Last known to be in the Wilmington, NC area around the 15th of April.
Close friends and family haven’t heard from them since.

Paige’s sister posted that she had left her phone behind. A friend later posted she had left her personal items, medication and dog behind as well.

According to Captain Thomas Tilmon, head of the WPD’s Criminal Investigations Division, the WPD received a missing persons report on April 19 from the pair’s roommate who was under the impression she had to wait three days before she could file such a report.

Tilmon declined to elaborate on what information detectives discovered in the women’s phones, but did say most of the communications in the phones appeared to be normal.

On May 4, 2020, Wilmington Police made a sad discovery. Two bodies were found in a vehicle that had gone off the River Road. The vehicle found is the same that the women were last seen traveling in, back in April. A news release from the WPD states that “due to the effects of decomposition, police cannot positively identify the two bodies at this time.”

  1. Something hits me wrong about this although it could be coincidence. The shirt Stephanie wore that day said Just DO it. (Nike). The road intersection they crashed on is Independence lane. Stephanie was the driver. I do wonder if the food left on the doorstep, the beer in the car was all a ploy to make this look like they accidentally died but I get this eerie feeling they made some sort of suicide pact and the rate of speed, skipping stopsigns, the perfect drop to run a car into a swamp, was all planned. The clues are in the details imho.
